Just to let you know, a friend of mine that has crohns has just been denied dla. We think its coz she missed her medical examination. Yet they wont listen to the fact that she was stuck in hosp when she missed it and theyve put her on unpleasant meds. They just said that a decision has already been made and they wouldn't listen to her! Scum!

Yeh same here Amelia! Determined to believe that I didnt need it and that I was fine without it! Its all about accepting the big 'D' word (disabled).
Ive recently just got DLA and I honestly dont know how Ive coped without it. I really hope you get it, it'll change your life : )

It's almost like im allowed to be unwell now so Im less stressed all the time and just go with it, deal with it as it hits me.

Fingers Crossed xx

Bernie do you have a Citizens Advice Bureau where you live ? If so you could ask them - 6 months does seem a long time unless the doctors asre delaying it by getting back to them ?

Hiya Suze,

Could you try CAB they are usually good with help with appeals etc... Like Lynn said we are entitled to it, the National RA website is very good i got all my info off there. I had a letter last week off the DLA apologising for the delay in their descion, i'm not getting my hopes up though ..... the whole thing gets me mad as if we don't have enough to put up with grrrrr. Hope your appeal goes well xx

Just read all above posts and am kinda brickini it! Recieve low rates for another condition but Gp and others have suggested reapplying as things are so bad with the Arthur (my local council won't give blue badge unless higher mobility). But am now worrying they might even cut it further because that has happened before. Used to recieve next rate up for other condition, things worsened so re applyed and second form clearly stated things were alot worse and they bloody cut me a rate. I suppose it's just a waiting and guessing game eh? X

Good luck Suze,

I have just started to recieve dla after years of trying and now get the high rate mobilty and middle rate care. It was great because I reduced my hours at work so when I go back I will only now work a 3 day week which should reduce the stress and pain

I felt like Verity for such a long time and didnt want to accept that I was disabled and entitled to the help and just got on with it. I then realised that people were gettig it for much less so thought swollow my pride and get my dues.

Keep us all informed and dont give up!!!

Got mine this morning... Suze fight the fight, I did and went to tribunal and all, got the highest in the end, its sad we dont get it immed, but there r alot of benefit spongers that lie to claim it, so they have to shift thru a lot of ppl to get to the ones that do need it, i was refused first time, then got it, at the lowest of the low rate, then re applied, went up a bit, then i got angry and realised i deserved higher rate, tribunal etc, got it!...U deserve it, and they wont cut u back to nowt, get your gp to back u up and any other specialists u r under...do what Lynn sugggested, as there r ppl on our side! tc let us know how u get on xx

only just found this forum and have been reading up on the many posts and topics - when I came across this thread..
it makes me realise how lucky I was when I received a reply Friday regaring my application for DLA. Applied middle of February, received two letters both saying they were waiting to hear from my RA nurse and then Friday received a letter confirming I will receive higher rate of one part and lower rate of other !!
Wonder why some people have problems and others don`t ??
