Hi Jenny K, sorry I eat everything, I do avoid alchol tho, mekas me so stiff next day....this is a good posting, and im sure that others will help u with your question, we did have this question come up b4, think most of us try and eat healthy, veg and fruit etc, all things in moderation. my consultants an rhumatologists have never told me about diet...even my Bio nurse hasnt said Diet has anything to do with it, she hasnt told me to watch my diet, they dont like us being too heavy, anyway hope u get some good posts back...may I ask Jenny how bad your Hubby is? can he work etc? has he had any joint replacements, and what type meds is he taking, sorry to sound nosy, but it gives us all a better insight into how he copes, and also yourself....how do u cope? hope u r claiming carers allowance..and DLA....co u r both entitled to it....Jill

Hi Jenny, I find that anything acidic is a baddy. I cant even smell tomato without flaring up but other stuff like cheese and obvioulsy lemons etc make me really bad. The next day Ill be in a lot of pain if I eat too much xx

Hi Jenney, It doesn't seem to make any difference to me. Can eat tomatoes etc. quite happily. Alcohol no difference either. Everyone seems to have different views. My docs and nurse say no evidence anything makes a difference but others disagree. I guess trial and error will tell your OH.

Hi Jill,
Thanks for your response, My hubby isn"t working now he was a builder, but is on the spanish sick pay at the moment, no other benefits available over in spain to the self employed !
He isn"t bad at the moment, although he says he still feels like his body is shutting down, and has no energy, has lost weight, but is better than he was ,a few months ago he couldn"t even open a tin, hold a cup or even clean his teeth, but at the moment he can do everything, he is taking steriods 15mg and methotextrate 15mg ,plus the medication for his heart problem, but we"re still not convinced that arthritis is the underlying problem,as we were told by a private english doctor that he had cancer, but 5 spanish doctors have dismissed that, I think we have been through every department in our local hospital! I understand that rhuematoid arthritis is an auto immune illness, and we have had experience with other auto immune illness"s , as my daughter also suffers with a muscle waisting illness, so we have had a roller coaster ride, both emotionally and phyisically, over the last year, and would just like a definate diagnosis.
