Have you asked the GP or Rhuematologist if it could be Fibromyalgia as well as OA ? [ as I suffer with both as well ]

Hi Bernie. I've been prescribed Amitriptyline for the Fibro as something had to be done about my neck as it was constantly painful then triggering Migraines with sickness. Not a good situation for a diabetic!! Also I wasn't sleeping very well, a classic sign [ I think ] for Fibro. For OA and general pains with the Fibro I just had Co-Codamol and Rhumalgan SR [ Modified Release Capsules Diclofenac Sodium ]. I think these are anti inflammatory tablets. I'm currently under the Rhuematologists for possible Inflammatory Arthritis [ still in the diagnostic stage].

Some days I feel like I can't even get out of bed with the tiredness and pain. I have to describe my Fibro symptoms as feeling like you are going to get the flu with aches all over. Some days are not as bad as the next so it's hit and miss. I think a lot has to do with the insomnia as some experts think that little sleep will stop the body naturally healing itself. ?? But I don't think they can give a spectific reason for it.
Also it can be brought on by stress. My Mum started with dementia in 2002 and she's been in a nursing home since 2004 and that has been really upsetting and certainly stressful. I used to be able to do things like decorating but I can't manage things like that now.

Hello again, thanks a lot for the advice. I'm also on amitriptaline, 75mg. They are working well for me at the moment. Last year I could barely walk, was in severe pain but as I said I'm doin well. I'm alergic to codien so I take Tramadol. I put on a lot of weight with the meds, did you find that? Did you apply for dla? What are the chances of getting with with FMS?
I sleep good now that I'm on the tablets, but I know exactly what you mean about not able to get out of bed and the whole body sore to the touch. I'm almost independant now, there are just a few things I can't do, but it's great not to be dependant on people.I'm going to the cinema tonight for the first time in about 7 months, before I wouldn't be able to sit long enough without pain, I'm looking forward to it.

Bernie glad to hear you are coping. I have put weight on with the Amys or could be I'm not as active as I once used to be. I do get DLA but this was after the 2nd attempt. The first one I ended up at a Tribunal and they denied me. I had to wait 3 months before applying again and I took the form to the Citizens Advice who filled it in for me and I got it. I also have bad OA in my ankle so have to walk with a stick and wear an Orthotic ankle boot. So I'm very s-l-o-w when walking all the senior citizens overtake me. I'm 55.

I went to the cinema last nite to see Nine, I enjoyed the film but my bottom and my legs were killing me, still it was great to get out. I'm applying for DLA, just waiting on word, I tried before for oa in hands and feet and another time for crippling headaches, little did I know it was the start of FMS, anyway I got refused on both accounts, It will be just my luck I'll get refused again.Ha. I have to move house because I live in a 3 story house and the stairs kill me so I'm in for a bungalow, I also have to use an electric chair for to get into the bath. I hope they take this into account.

bernie word of warning i found out when i was applying for my dla that when you tell them you got things like a bath chair to help you bathe they see that as a solution to your problem so its nolnger a problem so be careful about how many aids you list, tell them about the problem but not about the aids you got lol

Bernie all I can advise you is to let the Citizens Advice person help you fill it in for you. That's the only way I got mine. Good Luck.
