Subject: What next?

I have been on Sulphasalazine for 11 weeks now and am not noticing any improvements whatsoever!
I am also taking 25mg of prednisalone, which is the only drug that controls it but the dosage it gradually getting higher and higher. I am also tkaing celecoxib, omeprazole, and iron tabs.
I am due to see the rheumy in 2 weeks and was wondering what he is likely to do. Will he change the sulphasalazine or add somehting to it??

Hi Kazza, Was on sulfasalizine for 7 months and no change, so Rhummy added MTX, and been on both for 3-4 months now.
Not as stiff now, and think its helping.
Had no bad side effects but last bloods did show slight high on adnormal liver function which is being watched.

So, does that mean he will keep me on them for longer to see if they give any benefit or will they give me something aswell. I hate the thought of being in the same position for another 3 months.

I imagine when you see your rhummy he might put you on MTX as well as sulfasalizine, but they do say to give sulfa 3 months to kick in,so he might just ask you to wait and see.
Why dont you have a good chat with him and tell him how you feel.

Ok will do, I just hate the thought of putting these chemicals in my body when they aren't doing any good.
