Subject: A Pain In The Butt

I'm in the diagnosis stage been going to the Rhumie for over a year now. The last time he said he would test for Inflammatory arther and gave me a steroid injection into my system. He said if all pain and swelling went down then it is IA. This was last week. Well the swelling in fingers and ankles seem to be going down but I've got a pain in my right buttock [ or bum! ] now. Its not the injection because that was on the other side. it feels like I've fell on it but I havn't. Xrays shows wear to my hips the ortho even said they look like old hips !! Charming I'm only 55!! Anyone else had this please ?

Dont quote me on it KayJay but Id say it sounds like its your hip thats causing the pain. If your hips bad then the muscles around it could be inflamed. Get some painkillers down your neck and keep warm : ) Hot water bottles and heat pads etc directly on the muscle/joint thats affected helps me.

Don't know Verity it's just very odd that I've been suffering for years now with my left hip and after the steroid injection it's now in my right one [ but nowhere near as painful or stiff ] . Amazingly I can actually lift my left leg up 3x as higher than I could before the injection !!
