Subject: Metho since October and not one improvement

Hi All

I've now been on subcutaneous metho for my psoriaritic arthritis since October (20mg per week). And I've not seen a single improvement - if anything my joints and skin are worse. it's also leaving me with constant thrush and a disturbed menstrual cycle.

I'm due to see my specialist in a week but I'm sure they said I should see an improvement of my skin at least after around 8 weeks. I don't want to dismiss it but do wonder how long I should keep going with something so toxic with no sign of improvement.

Please do give it time. It helped me loads with RA. I had frequent thrush - but no doctor ever connected the two. After 18 months with a GUM specialist, I gave up the medical approach to the thrush and managed it with cider vinegar and/or tea tree oil topical treatments. (cider vinegar can also be added to diet). I';m afraid I also got worse before better with mtx - thanks to lowered immune system. But it does work in the long run. Hope it does the same for you.

Have also been on Methotrexate and folic acid tablets since the 5th October. 10mg per week plus the folic acid. Have noticed no improvement in joints to my hands, lumbar region and left knee.

Yesterday I commented to my wife that the psoriasis on my hands had improved considerably and had not been so good for years....This morning I woke up and my hands were blistered and as sore as hell..!

I guess the psoriasis is fighting back.

Thanks for the comments guys. I guess I am just concerned as to how much worse it will get before it gets better. Now got psoriasis patches on my arms which I have never had before in all the time I have had P.

I worry that if it gets settled on my arms from then on in I'll never get rid of it. It spread so quickly on the soles of my feet and continues now to creep up the sides that if it goes at that rate on my arms I'll be fighting a losing battle.

Hmm just a bit fed up with it today.
