Hello Kevin, I would say that it was corticosteroid that you were injected with.
The relief is fabulous I know.
I had both my knees done in at the beginning of November and it is just wearing off now.
I believe that having constant injections can do damage if you look in your search engine it will explain much better than me.
Again high protien can be explained the same way,I think it tells the gp that there is inflammation or infection going on in the body.hence your pain in all joints.
I have been diagnosed with RA which started with a swollen wrist two years ago,and am 53 yrs old.
Hope this helps

My doctor has suggested a hydrocortisone injection if my elbow pain doesn't inprove - I've heard from various sources that the injection is excrutiatinlgy painful though..is this still the case? No-one seems to mention any discomfort with the injection, or is it simply because it makes such an improvement that the instant pain is forgetable?

Hi Luigi,
I was told that they were very painful to.
I have had injections in my wrist, shoulder and knees, and never felt a thing with the ones in my wrist and shoulder.
The knees one hurt a bit, but the rhummy aspirated them first which means drew out some of the fluid, but knowing what relief I would get after,I couldn't have cared less.
I would have them all the time if I could.

Ive had loads of steroid injections in my knees but found the more I had the quicker they wore off. I think mine were a more sickening feeling more than pain. Eurgghh just thinkin about it makes me feel queasy! Although if the doc got it slightly wrong and scraped the bone with the needle........that really hurt!
I had my hips injected but had to have it done under general anaesthetic because they had to use an xray at the same time? That was nearly 10 yrs ago now. It was good for a couple of months but didn't last.

Perhaps I was lucky Jill but I was also in so much pain anyway would have gone through anything to improve it. Verity, I think they do it under ultrasound now - well, they did my shoulder like that but didn't feel it at all even though I was watching on the screen!! Sally

p.s. taken note of your comments about Wayno - what a prat!
