Hi Krystal Huge Hugs for u ok...u have come to the right place, so welcome to our Forum, we try and support one another, and even a words sometimes can comfort a person that is in pain, u are not alone, thats the first thing, dont know if that gives u some comfort, but we all understand your pain, so please come in and let us help u, we try as much as possible, and i beleive it helps..... how u explain your situation is exactly how most of us feel that have children, i have 5 kids, 10 to 23, i know its hard raising children when we r in soooo much pain....... I am assuming Krystal that u havnt had a diagnosis yet, at the moment im still in my dressing gown, i love wearing my pjs, so dont feel bad that u cant get dressed, we have all beeen in that situation, I am at the mo too...so never feel ashamed about Not getting dressed...I want to help u in a few ways, the others guys in here will give u somne tips, but I want to offer yu some tips, and I hope u do persue them, s they r there to help u as much as pos, to make your life comfortable.... ok first tip is.... Ring your local council and ask to speak to the Occupational Thearapy dept...dont be worried ok, they deal with people that r in terrible pain, like yourself, I recently had them install stuff for me, the O T dept will ask a few questions, expalin what U told us, and they cna offer u Hand rails, to help u in the shower, hand rails to help u in and out the bath, (i doubt u r using the bath, most of us cant) never the less, worth getting the hand rails for your littluns to use, helps u in the long run, they can lso add another Banister, so that u have 2 banisters, to help u hoist yourself upstairs(if u can that is), they can help raise your bed, and settee and chairs etc, so easier for u to sit in, without hurting yourself getting up and down, they can give u a toilet seat that is raised, so no pressure on your painful knees, they can also put in a New shower room(have to fit right criteria for that, but ask anyway) all this is FREE, whether u own your own home, or your a council tenant.... the Occ therapist, will help u as much as possible, to make your life comfortable as possible...Please ring them, and remember the equiptment is free......

2nd Tip...once u get your diagnosis...Claim for DLA(disability Living Allowance) its a benefit that we r all entited to. once diagnosed, doesnt affect any other benefits that u may be getting ....

3rd tip....Once u see your rhummy, ask for better Painkillers, there r better ones out ther for u ok..... mb u cld go see your GP b4 then and ask, If the pain is unbearable and even tho he has given u painkillers recently, if u r still in tyerrible pain, which sounds to me like u r, U are entiteld to get stronger painkillers ok, dont suffer in silence....

Krystal I wish I cld help and take your pain away, sadly none of us can do that, but there are some tips that may help u,...u can also buy in the shops the Wheat bags that u put in the Microwave and heat up for a minute or 2, and they help the pain, a little. until u get your diagnosis(which U may not get on first visit sadly) but the rhummy will give U an idea what may be happening to u, there is a lot of medication that can help, that Only a rhummy can offer u, there r medications which help with the pain and If u do have arthritis, stop it getting worse ok.... so stay Positive, hard with pain I know, we all know, but U Must as much as possible, stay positive, as stress can make it all worse........ How long have u suffered with all this?? pleae come back and tell us, and mb we can give u some support thta u need ok

take care Love Jill x by the way, I Have Inflamatory Arthritis, Disc degeneration, and disc disease of the neck, all my joints are affected with this nasty insidious disease, but the gang in here, they keep a smile on my face, and by god, have they helped me lots over this last year....we laugh in here, we cry, we moan, we scream, anything goes Ok..... chin up Krystal x

Hi Krystal,
I think if I was you, I would ring the hospital tomorrow, ask to be transfererd to the rhumatology dept and then who ever makes the appointmants, explain about your appointment in Feb, and say you need an earlier appointment please,Let them know how much pain and discomfort you are in,and dont hold anything back you are desperate anyone can see that.
There is no way you should be left to suffer for another month.
I am sure they will help you if they possibly can.
Hope this helps.

Another thing Krystal,The kids sound a good age to help themselves a bit, even if they make a mess, it will clean up eventually.
Wheat bags can be comforting on your aching body, while you are waiting for the pain killers to kick in and have plenty of warm drinks.
It has to be hard when you have a family to care for, but you need to be kind to yourself just now, get as cosy as you can, and if you have no one to look after you then put yourself first.

I can't really add any more to all this good advice. Just know that if you need to let off steam then were all here. It helps me an awful lot. Definately try and get an earlier appointment. There may have been a cancellation.
Take Care

Unfortunately its probably going to be a very big part of your life. I know it controls my life. Its important to remember that youre still the same person as you always have been, you just have pain etc to deal with also. I find it very easy to get sucked into the pain and become very low sometimes unconsolable. Im sure everyone on here does at some point. Sorry Im going on!

Pain can be so terrible, and having to rely on painkillers can be just as bad. A very close friend(Mother)had pain so bad that every morning when getting out of bed felt that her arms would drop off. She was taking a Green Tea and vitamins for awhile with no success, but then one day a friend offered her a herbal drink and thought - how could this help me. To her amazement things began to happen and began realizing the pain was not as severe anymore. She then became a constant user and start to tell me about the wonderful product she was taking daily.

hi krystal i started to cry when i read your message as it brought it back how i was when my children were that age and in so much pain! dont know what else to say to you except we are here for you and ring hospital and tell them how you are feeling and that you are finding it hard to cope with pain. Dont know how long you are on volterol but i found it took weeks for them to take effect, Dont know if children help you, but my daughter was only 3 years old and when it came to changing babies nappy (and it was the cloth nappies with safty pins and needed washing too!) she would hold his legs so he didnt kick my hands as i would be crying with the pain, so get kids to do things for you

Krystal the gals r so right, pls ring and ask for an earlier appointment, as Angela suggested, we all do that, I had an appt for march, this was sent to me in Nov, I thought OMG how can i wait that long, I rang the surgeons secretary, told her how much pain I am in, and I got my appt brought forward to 17th Jan! so please ring today.....Sandra when I read your message about your little girl aged 3 helping, I thought WOW, what a great Mum and wonderful child helping u at that tender age, just shows u that children will know and understand and they take it in their stride, especially at such a young age...yes we all feel guilty and rubbish for asking for help.....wow what a story....take care both..love Jill xx

hi jill yes they were great kids, they even knew i couldnt lift them onto my knee so they would climb up themselves, i have to say my eldest daughter was great at the age of 8 she would cook simple dinners as my husband was working away from home at time.

awwwww seems like u have a lovely helpful family.....mine r sooooooooooooo lazy! mine are 23, 18(two gals) and three boys 17, 12, 10...all lazy!! they roll their eyes when I ask them for help, so i dont bother asking, Unless i get annoyed, they dont think to ask if I need help....guess becos they see me manage and that the house is kinda tidy, my fella helps....but just hate it when my kids still leave paltes and cups in front room, on the floor, cant bear that...makes me mad.... but they still do it...oh well, think I spoiled them too much whilst growing up, especially the older ones, as I wasnt so bad then....

Hiya Jill! Just reading your frustrations with people leaving things on the floor. This drives me totally mental! Ive told them, i dont mind you leaving things out but make sure you put them somewhere other than the floor (I cant touch the floor). But NO! Apparently this is too bloody difficult. Jeez I feel like screaming at people when they do this (and sometimes I actually do lol). Some people can be quite ignorant to certain needs and don't realise that Im actually serious! I think a cattle prod would be handy for any time something gets left on the floor!

no one minded the debate it was he does not allow any one else to have an opinion. it is his or he turns on people . shame because he did have an opinion to offer but we do like the chance to make up our own minds we might not always make the right ones but that is life u do the best u can

Krystal, pamper yourself, and dont feel guilty about it either ok....if u need to rest, then rest....but remember to Not stay in bed too long or u will loose your stamina!...walk a little around the house, if u are not working, staying in bed all day can cause worse probs.... get some wheat bags for the microwave, and even if u sit up on the settee(buy a V pillow for back and Neck support) as lying down alday after a long stretch can lower the Blood pressure....so kinda mix and match resting , with a walk around the hse, and sitting, and lying down.....thats how I cope msot of the time.....mind U, ive been in bed most of the day myself.....first time ive been on the forum for a few days.... take care ok, come back soon for the support U need x

Hi jill
Im sorry that time hasn't diminished your seething hate and rage for me.
I forgive you for the outrageous attack you decided to launch on my attemp to help and hope that you can start to feel better soon without my considerable experience and vital knowledge.
I have decided to take a different approach to helping people so unfortunatly wont be offering any more advice on this forum,my findings only seem to upset ,aggrevate and inflame popular opinion and dogmatic belief about disease and all other widely held but wrong assumptions about the causes and persistant drivers of this insideous and painful but curable condition of the modern age.
humble apologies for my unwanted interjection.
yours lovingly,
wayno.
