Subject: multiple joint pain

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had the same symptoms as me.It started 5 weeks ago with pain in the wrist, after approx 3 hours the wrist had swollen up and felt as if i had broken it, the swelling and pain was gone after approx 3 days. Since then i have had the same in both wrists, both knees, one shoulder and both ankles. Doc has signed me on the sick for the last 5 weeks he thinks its fleeting arthritis, in between attacks i am fine with no symptoms apart from the odd ache, i can be fine for up to 6 days between attacks. I am due to see a RA consultant in january.Ps i have suffered with many broken bones in the past due to accidents. Thanks

Hi Bryan. I'm new here also , and certainly no expert but I have swelling in my hands and ankles nearly all the time. It's good you are going to see the consultant soon as they should sort it out for you. I go in Jan as well but they seem to be at a loss to explain my symptoms and I've been seeing them for about 18 months now.

Good luck !!

Hi Bryan, before I started my meds I would swell for about 3-4 days a week and be in intense pain and then it would come right down as if nothing had ever happened. I have RA and it does vary from year to year. Before being diagnosed they thought it was groing pains etc so hang on in there and keep pushing them if it carries on. x

Hi Bryan, i agree with the girls there, mind u, never ever heard of Fleeting arthritis...mb its a GP nickname....anyway, your doing all the right things, athrritis is a nasty thing, cam start with swelling and severe pain, thats prob due to the furst flare up, then after a while goes away, and artha does go into all joints, can attck as many or as little as it wants, soime people don t swell, just acute pain! we r all different....try get a good painkiller to help u...gooood luck
